Area of Research

Arun Sreekumar studies the behavior of consumers and entrepreneurs in resource-constrained contexts. He uses insights from such contexts to design and test marketing interventions that can improve the wellbeing of low-income and low-literate consumers.  

 

Current Research

Broad questions in current research projects include:

  1. What persuasive strategies do small, resource-constrained entrepreneurs use to market products that lack signals of quality (e.g., branding, advertisement, seller reputation)?
  2. Why do subsistence individuals rely on local/traditional medical advice as opposed to consulting trained doctors?
  3. How do resource-scarce individuals cope with constrained working memory?
