Ernesto Noronha is a visual and work sociologist who extensively uses images in his research. He has had a long-standing interest in photography, with one of his earliest sociological projects undertaken in the mid-1990s in Mumbai, for Arizona State University which focused on rag pickers and pharmaceutical salespeople.
His projects in the last few years focus on brick kiln workers, construction workers, child labour on Bt cotton fields and ragpickers at Ahmedabad dump sites. He also dabbles in wildlife photography, starting with birds at IIM Ahmedabad.
